My first time at a nude beach.

It was nearing the end of 2013 and a group of friends and I had hired out a house along the Great Ocean Road for New Years Eve. Whilst the party house boasted an awesome pool, not being big fans of tan lines at the time, my best friend and I were looking to get away and get topless.

Having been a topless sunbather for the last four or so years, Jan Juc was the textile beach I used to frequent beforehand, but going topless at a surf beach where you know every second person became a little awkward and the attention was unwelcome.

In deciding where we should go for our little nudie adventure, we had heard about a nude beach nearby, Point Addis. So, that morning we decided to hit the road and venture to the nude beach about 15 minutes away.

After a walk along Southside Beach, the further down we walked, the less bikini-clad the beachgoers became. Destination reached! Off came the tops!

It wasn’t overly busy at the time. Naked by passers waved and greeted us in such a warm and welcoming manner. I felt right at home. Whilst we were seemingly the youngest members there, we weren’t feeling objectified in the slightest, as some may assume to be the case with a couple of naked 25 year old females.

It was so much more liberating than I had anticipated. It was so refreshing to see people of all ages, shapes and sizes enjoying themselves and feeling comfortable in their natural state.

I was loving it!

We had a skim board we were keen to play with along the shore line, and so we got to it. Not as easy an activity as we initially thought it to be, we were struggling to pull one another along. Following some tedious effort accompanied by some good belly laughs, and just before we were about to give up on the endeavour, one of the nudists frolicking in the shallows nearby (after having a good laugh watching our pathetic attempts) offered up some help. I mean, we weren’t getting anywhere, so we weren’t about to reject the offer.

Sitting on the board, I was suddenly jolted by the inertia as the nude man and my best friend pulled me along the shore line at lightning speed! SUCCESS!

As I looked up, in my peripheral vision was the beautiful ocean to my right, cliff and terrain to my left, two asses straight ahead and a cock slapping around in all directions from all the running the nude man was doing to pull me along the shoreline!

The ride was invigorating!

Always finding myself in random-ass situations, as I sat on the skim board I thought, ‘Only I would find myself in a situation where I look up to find a random naked man with his cock jumping about all over the place and my bestie pulling me along on a skim board whilst topless’.

So whilst I found great humour in the whole situation, there was also a sense of gratitude and humility.

In hindsight, it was actually a rather pivotal point on my nudist journey.

Whilst I had been topless sunbaking for the last four or so years prior to this event, this particular experience helped me to appreciate the fact that the nude beach felt like so much more of a judgment-free zone in comparison to your average textile beach. There was definitely more of a sense of community at this nude beach than I was used to at my old stomping ground at the surf beach.

It helped me to understand that (most) genuine nudists do not have some hidden agenda.

If you’ve not been to a nude beach before or have not been socially nude, you may assume that when you’re naked around strangers, you’re going to be objectified and sexualised.

Well this excursion to the nude beach helped me to appreciate that this isn’t necessarily the case.

I suppose it was also this event that helped me to appreciate that there is so much more to nudism than just sunbaking naked. So much more than just being without unwanted tan lines. It was the fact that we were doing what you’d normally do in a bikini…naked…and it felt natural. Normal.

What also helped was the fact that a random, middle-aged naked man did not make two younger females feel uncomfortable or sexualised, even though we were all naked. This was damn refreshing! It also highlighted the fact that nudists are obviously doing something right if they could respectfully co-exist naked amongst one another, despite age, gender, race or size.

Nude beach hangs.

Nude beach hangs.

Since my first time at a nude beach, I’ve had many different experiences and encounters, some of which have not been as pleasant, but most of which have been just as lovely and liberating. I’ve also become a lot more active in the nudist community and the lifestyle.

For me, there’s absolutely no turning back!

I suppose you never know unless you give it a go!
