Yoga is a school of thought that focuses on an inward journey into our consciousness.
Yoga is over 5,000 years old, and as it was laid out in the ancient texts of Patanjali's 'Yoga Sutras', the eight limbs of yoga (asana being only one) comprise a complete practice; the goal being to refine the body, the breath and the heart-mind (citta).
I believe it is important to understand and share the traditions that yoga has been rooted in, but I also understand the need for adaptability.
My hopes for this section of the blog is to act as an education and information hub for the practice of yoga, as well as being able to help you along with your practice.
Yoga 101 is here to explain the basics of yoga, the concepts, the ideas, the philosophy, etiquette...and so on.
We all have to start somewhere, so whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced in your yoga practice, I hope there is something in here that may be of benefit in helping to strengthen and compliment your personal practice...on and off the mat.
